#histbookchat. Picked this up today. I recall Katja Hoyer talking about the infamous speech at either WHWF drei oder vier. Couple of books to get off the plot first.

Top pod as always. And the promise of more Christopher Clark WNTL? Some book recommendations, good books. Bear in mind I am neither historian nor academic. #histbookchat

I was looking for something else and I found this photograph. It’s in the German town of Soest. A memorial to the 1300 civilians killed in Allied bombing.

I honestly don’t know. I’ve got this pic. More comments in the Alt.

I was asked elsewhere to recommend some books on the Vietnam War. I went with this lot as a starter pack. #histbookchat

Picked up these 3 when down south. I got Frank McDonough’s book at his book launch in Hatchards. Great evening. The TBR pile is teetering. #histbookchat.

Best I ever got.

Got called to do some emergency lifting heavy things at my sister’s house. A wee pic of my best pal in the world.

Arrived today from Dr Helen Fry and the marvellous @foxlanebooks.bsky.social. Just as speedy as you know who. Support our independent booksellers. #histbookchat

The welcome return after a hiking hiatus of @newsofthewar.bsky.social, @merrynwalters.uk, @andyaitch.bsky.social. With guest Chris Olivant, talking Aussies in the SWW. Extended edition too. Five listeners? Have you checked? I have this book, shamefully still on the TBR pile. #histbookchat.

I saw this tremendous book off the plot this evening. As they say Roger Moorhouse has knocked it out of the park. Highly recommended. #histbookchat

Good pod. If you want to know more about the trials in the sixties I can recommend these books. #histbookchat

Finished reading this about 20mins ago. A compelling book. However if you’re a Brit it’s a challenging read. #histbookchat.

I was at a talk this evening in the Our Freedom: Then and Now stream from @moffski.bsky.social on a topic from her book. #histbookchat

Last night I attended an event in Edinburgh where @leaypi.bsky.social spoke about her new book, Indignity. Very interesting chat about the book and the research/writing process. A period in European history about which I know next to nothing, so very much looking forward to reading it. #histbookchat

Spot the difference. In this pic the title of Im Kaiserreich is upside down, however the book is the right way up. Come on Germany! Why wasn’t “print book spines like the Brits” in the surrender docs signed in Lüneburg in May ‘45?😉
