I am sure a lot of the local businesses there depend on the over-tourism to survive. And now they want to combat it? If there is less tourism, prices will go up, which will hurt local tourism and contribute to inflation. With a weak yen, charging more for non-residents could be a short-term fix.

Calling AI people— that is nuts. But I would be fine with AI CEOs and AI board members that don’t need massive paychecks and stock buybacks so all the money is redistributed to the hard-working people. The fact of the matter is they know the AI bubble will burst— probably soon.
