Let's stop pretending that the billionaire media, endlessly attacking the BBC, has the slightest interest in balance, impartiality and accuracy. They won't be happy until the BBC is more rightwing than Vlad the Impaler. And then it still won't be enough.

The popularity of Kingdom on the BBC

makes me wonder if the British would accept that large predators are key components of our ecosystems

or is the opinion that they are simply nice to watch - in another part of the world

The NERC review process makes its ‘no resubmissions’ policy particularly egregious

If a grant scores low, it is rejected with no opportunity to address reviews

We’ve just had that; the reviews would have been easy to address

As a result, we can’t submit a revised version to any research council 😢

Yes, this is correct. And the reason is because our capitalist classes have decided that it is not sufficiently profitable, so they're not going to do it.

We must understand this reality. Capital *cannot* be relied upon to address the climate crisis.

If you engage with the public about the climate & biodiversity crises

It becomes clear that much of the denial is not because people do not believe these things are happening

But because they don’t want to face the terrifying truth

I’ve just announced I’ll be leading a National Emergency Briefing on 27 November . At a time when climate is in free fall on the political agenda , it’s vital our leaders realise what is at stake if we do not accelerate a just , green transition for all .

While governments consider proposals to protect forests, UK banks continue to fund their destruction.

UK banks have provided over £1 billion to "forest-risk" companies since the COP26 agreement to end deforestation.

In 2021, the Gov warned we “could lose control of our climate for good” beyond 1.5°C.

Now, the CCC says “prepare for 2°C by 2050”

This huge shift in just 4 years calls for a new plan.

MPs can only make sound decisions to protect us if they’re briefed.
