Agreed. The face-sucking has happened before (Will in UDW or maybe just vision/mental?) but the pod-style/Alien situation this season feels pretty loosely-goosey. I blame editing.

I believe the face-sucky place is a real place in the other dimension, Dustin’s Abyss, as Holly discovered. That’s where the kids’ bodies physically are while their minds are in Vecna’s mental trap.
