Exactly. I always remind non-NYers that as they drive to work, they probably don't smile & wave at folks from their cars. We are just moving quickly through crowds. Get us in a cashier line or a cafe and we will listen, commiserate, or rejoice with you. And maybe walk you to your next appointment.

Nah— we New Yorkers merge like that all the time, esp at the bridges and tunnels. The entrances to the Lincoln Tunnel are giant mosh pits of merging. It is inspiring to experience. My guess is those non-mergers today were drivers from “other places” who ventured into Manhattan for the parade.

One to correct writings on popular music, wherein a layperson writer appropriates without understanding, misuses, or misconstrues technical musical terms (which actually do mean something.) Special alarm and physical zap for incorrect usage of "syncopated," which does NOT mean "lively" or "jumpy." 🤬

This has been questioned and discussed regularly on multiple MSNBC shows, especially on Deadline: White House (Nicolle Wallace). Late last week on Jen Psaki's show, I heard very pointed commentary by Preet Bharara on the subject.

Mark EVERY box well so you can find your “necessaries”—undies, socks, pjs. Pack a small arrival box with some drinkware, utensils, etc, so that when you get there you can eat, drink, and sleep. Organized packing helps to lessen the feeling that moving is a crisis.

I work there and have seen them lowered to the floor for cleaning. Very cool. You should definitely come to the opera.
