That increase is also meaning more families of children with disabilities are going to receive grant money through the ESA+ grant. While some of those families will use that for private school, many use it for homeschooling.

And waivers for developmental disabilities vary from state to state. In NC, the wait list for this Waiver (Innovations) is 10+ years long. People get their children on it as babies and then can wait till their child is in their teens before they get a spot.

As most people don't have need for them, they don't realize that private insurance has caps on how many sessions of physical, occupational (fine motor skills), and speech therapy a person can have. Some do have exceptions for certain diagnosis, but again it's jumping through hoops.

You know that special education also encompasses AIG (academically and intellectually gifted) students as well? So, no federal funding for programming means AIG programs that do exist will disappear as well. But those students won't have as hard a time finding a private or charter school.

The sad thing is that our most vulnerable populations (students with disabilities) and our poorest areas (Title I schools) will pay the price first as it's the money from the federal government fund these programs and schools.

An educated population costs money and does not directly make the government money so they aren't interested in it. Plus the educated generally don't blindly follow...
