It spent a few years in my drawer before I passed it on to Dan (> 6 years ago, it turns out), and then I think it spent a couple years in his drawer between his 2nd and 3rd kids.

I considered crashing at my daughter’s place tonight (she’s also pretty close to Valmont) but I am not ready for that role reversal!

There's a "cross traffic does not stop" intersection near my house where some people act like it's a 4-way stop. I've nearly been creamed there a couple times. And don't get me started on the parents who idle in the bike lane during school pickup...

I’m currently putting time and money into making my old CX bike functional again. Do I need a B bike? No. Will it be easier to sell as a whole working bike? Maybe. Do I like pointless tinkering? Well, duh. Sometimes I just have to do the thIng so I can get it out of my head.

Prior to this season, I’ve been midpack on a good day. I’m getting better results this year, and there are lots of reasons for that, but fundamentally I’m still racing myself. I’ll never be the best, and I’m old enough that I’m not going to get stronger. But I can get smarter.
