Help Barbara Fight for Her Future After ICE Detention NEW UPDATE We've learned that Barbara Marques is likely not facing immediate deportation and is back in South Louisiana. It's all thanks to YOUR work yesterday. THANK YOU. Her husband Tucker also spoke directly with Rep. Judy Chu, and her office continues to be aware and engaged. He was also interviewed by some national outlets. It's working!!! Though the U.S. government is in shutdown, ICE's enforcement operations are designated "essential" and may continue. We can't slow down now. Our new immediate concern is her safety and wellbeing inside ICE custody. Barbara has already endured inhumane treatment, including: Over 12 hours without food or water, denial of necessary medical equipment and even ibuprofen for pain, inability to sleep due to constant fear, bathrooms without toilet paper or basic supplies, and cancellation of her commissary account (when she was scheduled for deportation). This blocks access to soap, deodorant, blankets, and essentials even though funds were paid. These conditions are violations of basic human rights. An update on my wife Barbara: We know where she is now. She is being held at a detention camp in Louisiana. After nearly 3 days of travel in shackles, with spans of 12+ hours without food or water and little or no sleep, she has not been provided a bed at this facility. As I write this, she is attempting to sleep on the floor. She is being denied treatment for a back condition despite have written acknowledgement from a facility run by the SAME company that she needs this. She has no criminal record but is receiving inhumane treatment that would not be acceptable for even hardened criminals. Please continue to help me demand action for my wife and other detainees who do not deserve this. Thank you. 31 minutes ago

My name is Tucker May. In April I married the love of my life, Barbara Marques. Right now I fear for her life. A week and a half ago she was taken by ICE at our properly scheduled green card meeting at the Federal Building downtown. At the end of what we were told was a successful meeting, the officer used the excuse of a broken copier to trick her into walking away from our lawyer. Once separated from her legal counsel, she was arrested. The reason for her detention was a missed court date from 2019 which my wife was never notified about. We have been working with lawyers since that time to correct the situation. The Adelanto detention center has actively been keeping my wife from correspondence with her lawyer by delaying in giving her documents that were mailed to the facility. Last night, she was taken from the Adelanto facility to an undisclosed destination despite our lawyer having filed a temporary restraining order to stop this from happening. They could be sending her anywhere in the world and we have no way of knowing. I'm asking for help in bringing to the attention of media and authorities these multiple lapses in due process and proper procedure through the unwarranted deportation of a woman whose legal marriage has been duly recognized as legitimate by immigration through the 1130 petition process. Please, if you have any contacts who could help, send them this information.
