This is what they looked like towards the end of the season - the purple flowers at the front, it was a group of three. Some of the growth was about 5' (150cm) tall.

Cleaning up the dahlia tubers. The brown bag held 3 of these when we bought them. I don’t think I could even get one back in - and that’s after just one year.
