The irony is striking on this Monday, the same day that this year we all witness a transition of the most powerful position in our land that has left millions of people in our country afraid and uncertain. In fact, uncertainty is one of the greatest fears, isn't it?

From his book "Strength to Love," King writes: "The ultimate measure of a man (i.e. person) is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

I have witnessed first hand the toll anxiety and depressive symptoms can have on individuals and families, and I will work with council and our school board to make meaningful impacts on the mental health of our citizens.
