Doing some crazy unreal scale tests. The scene is something over 400square miles, all done procedurally
(All assets are placeholder for right now while I refine things)

All 400 square miles or so are traversable and populated with assets

I can’t put this damn game down. I’m 25 hours deep and still mesmerized by how good it looks
March 23, 2025 at 4:50 AM
This is such a cool glitch it might as well be a feature, somehow broke the game so that the “Ink” filter didn’t go away when I left photo mode. Even in the menus too

Facial MOCAP animation test using lines from the game.
Not final design of the character, and probably not the final voice (IM NOT A VOICE ACTOR I TRIED) but it's surreal to see major progress like this that's causing some reworks to the overall plan of the game that make me excited

I’ve been Messing around with facial animations for Into The Bleeding Trees so I can actually make cutscenes.

This is actually amazing how clean this rough edit looks from the raw footage. I crap on unreal sometimes but this is bonkers.
(There is no audio, you’re not going crazy)

Unreals transition to FAB is one of the worst implementations ever.

We just got back to NY- so many pictures to sort out, but we had an absolute blast in SoCAL.

Tried In-N-Out for the first time.

I gotta say, it’s good- doesn’t beat out my favorite burger joint quite yet. Has a tanginess to it I didn’t expect.

Milkshake was great.

Fries were okay.

Saw a post on Twitter of a student stressed about not getting modeling quickly.

Students- please please please, remember that this takes time. It’s very hard, but the results of the time and the work are worth it. It just takes time.

2012 (Blender cycles render)
2024(Unreal 5.5 real-time)

As a kid all I wanted to do was make games. And here I was in a game engine making…something, it wasn’t a game but it was SOMETHING and it hit something deep within me that gave me every power to keep going. To keep creating. Keep telling stories. Anything.
A decade later, life has changed so much

It gave me an outlet to create a world all my own, to build something never seen before- it empowered me to have a voice when I couldn’t. My lowest point in my life it allowed me to create a version of something better. It helped in absolutely every way it could.

2025 marks a decade since I decided to pick up game art seriously as a means to cope with abuse I was experiencing at the time.

It’s wild how much life has changed.
Game art, both directly and indirectly, saved my life in 2015.

Follow your dreams. Don’t let anything stop you.

(I messed up and used the wrong photo for the art studio environment in the main post that was blurred for use on Twitter. My bad here’s the higher res version)

(I know it’s not at 900 yet but still) it’s actually crazy and humbling that 900 people would want to learn from me and I’m very grateful for y’all. I hope I’ve been able to teach you something and help in your art journey
