Golden fig leaves fall—
in the night, silence ripens,
a taste bittersweet.

🧡 Today, on Truth and Reconciliation Day, we honour the Indigenous children who never came home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

This is a time to listen deeply, learn honestly, and commit to action. 🇨🇦

I hope that Ken Dryden—hockey icon, parliamentarian, and author—will be honoured with a national funeral. Few Canadians have contributed so meaningfully to our cultural, political, and intellectual life. He’s a citizen whose legacy merits such recognition.

Good morning, everyone! ⛈️

The rain taps softly at your door,
a gentle drum, a whispered score.

Let every drop wash doubt away,
and paint in silver the start of your Saturday. ☂️

Today in Human Rights History

The US ratifies the 19th Amdmnt on August 18, 1920, securing women’s constitutional right to vote.

A victory won through decades of women courage, unity, and unyielding determination — proving that democracy is strongest when every voice is heard. 🗳️ #WomensRights

I was sad to learn about the passing of British actor, Terence Stamp. Today, I watch The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. He's great as Bernadette in the movie.

RIP Mr. Stamp

Today in #HumanRights History

We remember the hundreds — likely over 1,000 — of lives lost in Cairo’s Rab’a Square on August 14, 2013, for peacefully demanding democracy. Today, their courage endures, and their voices still resound in the call for truth, justice, and human rights. Never forget.
