Syrils only encounter with Cassian was kneeling at Cassian's feet with a gun to his head. After extracting the information he needed, Cassian didn't feel Syril was significant or threatening enough to bother shooting. Imagine suspecting for years that was the reason your life was spared.

So, does every time there's a disaster, natural or not, have to include deliberate lies from assholes now? What is the point other than to add to already traumatized or injured people's pain? The truth is readily available, and these days usually not that hard to find.
