I don't think you or anyone has an obligation to feel sorry or sympathetic towards people who voted for Trump. I do think it's a net positive for these people to start opening their eyes, and I also think that the more anger directed at them the less that will make that journey.

Pushing them away and shutting them out of any community is likely going to lead to them retreating back into the view of the world that they find more comforting. (4/4)

They likely do need something to affect them or someone they love directly for them to 'get' it. Their version of empathy is still underlined by the perspectives they listen to in the real people around them. (3/4)

These people have been pushed away from reality consistently and intentionally, both through fear and pressure to conform, for the past 9 years at the minimum. Even their entire lives, especially if they were born into the evangelical community. (2/4)

People don't seem to get how much people have offloaded their critical thinking skills to 'the crowd'. A lot of these people are in households that have fox news playing 24\7, or are surrounded by people in their offline community in a similar boat. (1/4)
