Grateful for the love of relations near and far and my ancestors’ embrace. I made soon dubu chigae with mushrooms foraged by my friend and her mom in the Pacific Northwest mountains. Thank you to this land on which I’m a guest for nourishing me. Gentleness and warmth to all these final days of 2024.

Thinking of this poem today by Joy Harjo. I first taught it at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles as an ABD adjunct in 2005. These stanzas and their tonal subtleties land with the emotional insight of ritual. Read the full poem here: poets.org/poem/perhaps...

Spent the afternoon downloading my data and deleting posts and self-authored posts. Along with my "closed forever" sign, I hope this blank space / "lights out" signals my refusal to be an AI meal and to enrich Elon. I'm one user among millions, but maybe someone will feel encouraged to do the same?
