This is less accurate, as I typed `cd ../artichoke` and not `cd ~/projects/artichoke`, but absolute paths should result in (i) fewer history items and (ii) more useful history, as I can now use the last history item to get to the artichoke project from anywhere on my system.

Instead of a history with relative paths:

$ history
cd ~/projects/rhubarb
cd ../artichoke

The shell history would look like this, even when relative paths are used:

$ history
cd ~/projects/rhubarb
cd ~/projects/artichoke
