No the back side is open and cored out to reduce weight. It also has threaded holde so you can insert handles sticking out the back. It's a really nice design. 👍🏻

They are very useful for certain things and a pain in the butt as a general purpose milling machine. Happy to provide some tips on use if you need them. 👍🏻
