TL:DR: I hate the state of modern music production nowadays, especially in metalc. I want it to be dirtier, rougher and beaten up. Go and listen to the new Creeper album. It’s ace.

…The production (courtesy of Tom Falgety) is intentionally imperfect, allowing some of the roughness to shine through.

I’d rather have an album have rougher production more than producers putting more effort into pitch perfect production with no flaws, feeling perfectly manufactured to serve SM.

Making me really enjoy the album even more. It’s why I’ve strayed away from a lot of Deathcore and Metalcore: they’re too perfectly engineered nowadays.

A lot of mainstream metal is extremely guilty of perfect production too! It’s also why I’m enjoying the new Creeper so much…

Deathcore ESPECIALLY is guilty for the pristine production, listening to Lorna Shore’s latest made me notice how…uncannily perfect the notes and beats are.

However, I found myself really invested with The Acacia Strain’s newest album - it’s got dirt and imperfections in the production -

Have you listened to a lot of new metal music recently?

How there’s no space for the music to breathe, focusing on getting so many notes as you can get into the song?

The breakdowns being the end-all of every song (especially in metalcore and deathcore). It’s like that’s everything to a song.

Not to be a boomer, but I genuinely miss the little cracks of vinyl and tape within the recording. Everything being recorded now has pretty much pitch perfect production, as engineers and producers found the exact science of music production, it’s especially evident in metal music.

This song’s beat is really cool, musically really interesting. I also do like this staging.

The older Albanian couple made a cool industrial pop banger.

25 - 🇸🇲 - This song’s another rough one. Not a fan of it.

24 - 🇫🇷 - Very unfortunate staging, poor girl looks like she’s having diarrhoea problems.

Very good song nonetheless.

23 - 🇸🇪 - They’ve gone into Moldova mode…
