What in the 1995 Draft Version of Toy Story crap was that?

Having my church I've been part of for 15 years (served on the board, youth advisor for half a decade) decide that disabled people don't matter, after I advocated as hard as I could for them to view masking as an act of community care, and to offer *some* masked events if nothing else. Nope.

Having been a history professor at a top R-1 research institute known for STEM, this is 100% true. The STEM majors think history and social science courses are a waste of time, but to be fair, they've been overtly told this by their parents, administrators, and politicians (NCLB, teach to the test).

I am so, so sorry. In my personal life (not author life) I am heavily involved in our COVID-safe community, helping people to get free rapid tests and masks, working on food rescue for immunocompromised people, and working with non-profits. The level of denial and victim blaming is horrifying.

Right? 4 of my books were used without my permission in Books3. I LOVE -- let me stress, LOVE -- em dashes.

My family is immunocompromised, and we have been painfully hurt by "open minded" friends & colleagues who abandoned disabled and immunocompromised people like us over the last few years. It's harder to talk with these folks than with close-minded people, who are at least blunt with their rejection.

And he refused to do any household/childcare tasks. Wouldn't "let" her hire them out. Wasn't emotionally supportive. Her success was "luck" and a source of shame for him. I felt so bad for her. My husband is the exact opposite.

I will never forget being at a conference, sitting with a friend earning half a million a year, and how she told me her husband expected her to still do ALL the stay-at-home-mom tasks. Cooking/cleaning/chauffeuring/homework/etc. while he earned about 1/10th of her and derided her career. Wild.

My older kids' pediatrician saw children die from this in the 1990s. When we were vaccinating our youngest, I mentioned a delayed schedule (we were moving and using a new ped for our baby) and he emphatically told me not to skip/delay Hib. We didn't.
