My pelican and northern shoveler pictures today up by the bay today were unexciting. But the ravens were willing to pose. Something about them always wants me to go black and white.

I’m rehabbing some neglected Nepenthes. They had been under watered, light starved, pit in a terrarium that molded up and then put in clay pots. I did burn the leaves with leds too close, but they seem to be doing better. At least getting good pitchers.

Two weeks ago I heard two great horned owls hooting at each other around 4AM. I went out and listened and could tell they were in two trees down the street. Went out the next day to see if they were roosting there. No owls…

A composite of 7 frames over 1 second of a Northern harrier. I mostly try to keep my edits lightening darks, adjusting exposure, white point, denoising, etc. But for this I kept every other from the burst as I tracked the harrier and stacked them in photoshop.

Allen’s or Rufous hummingbird. I couldn’t get a good tail spread of this one and both were present. One of my favorite uncropped bird action shots. At the UCSC arboretum.

Long eared #owl perched on log. There was a long eared owl in a park. I went and there was a big mob of people (too many, TBH). It didn't show and most people left. I hung out and then a half hour later the fog burned off a little and the owl made an appearance. #birds #birdphotography
