Yes, I agree that a lot of scientists currently and historically have focused to little on “bedside manner” 🤓

I don’t think this is a major disagreement with you - but while engaging videos aren’t bad, I don’t think it as powerful as finding venues in our communities (churches, PTAs, schools, etc.) with invitation to engage

Something I strongly believe is scientists need to go to “where people are” and also not to outright dismiss concerns, however unfounded

But I don’t think expertise should be abandoned. We’re a society where people generally like/trust their doctors and individuals they know and see as respectful

For who in the scientific community is this the main scicomm strategy?

And who do you think is taking the most effective approach?

Subject for another time, but *living* outside the US, for at least 6 months at a stretch but preferably 1 -2 years or more, is incomparably enlightening. In many cases more "affordable," because longer stays usually involve some kind of job, an exchange program, etc.

Congrats, man!

It would be “nice” to explain this randomness and find something clear to blame. But a lot of it is just bad luck.

Effective medicine (and prevention) requires us to recognize this and find solutions that take it into account.

They are pondered by all who delight in them

I think it’s like isopropanol where you should test it for peroxides

(Kidding!)

There are a few activity reagents but I haven’t used any

I think the consensus is that TMEM192 is a better/more stable lysosomal marker than LAMP1. I haven’t validated an antibody for endogenous 192 yet. LysoTrackers work well and can give you an indirect measurement of pH. I like LysoTracker Red DND-99.
