My biggest takeaway from this course is that there are many verbal and nonverbal ways to communicate with one another, and communication methods around the world are influenced by cultural and individual beliefs. #UTcommtheory

Family communication, structure theory was most interesting to me. I enjoyed reading about how other families communicate during times when technology is so involved in our day-to-day lives. #UTcommtheory

Agenda-setting theory remains highly relevant. Gatekeepers such as influencers, editors, and algorithms determine which stories trend and gain attention online. While my newsfeed may be curated to reflect my interests, this can limit my exposure to other topics. #UTcommtheory

A recent example of media shaping the public agenda is the increased focus on artificial intelligence. Media coverage of AI advancements, ethical concerns, and potential job displacement has elevated it as a significant public and policy issue. #UTcommtheory

I have a parasocial relationship with Donald Glover. He's an African American actor, writer, and singer. Glover has a passion that has never limited him to just one area of focus. He shares a passion for artists from all cultures, not limiting himself to a single cultural influence. #UTcommtheory

I chose Disney as a major media company that influences culture and identity through its princess movies. My daughter and I have watched all the Disney princess films together. These movies taught us about femininity, beauty standards, romance, and independence. #UTcommtheory

A negative impact of AI on my educational experience is noticing that professors' comments on my assignments often feel like they are generated by AI. This diminishes the sense of connection in our communication. #UTcommtheory

I have definitely experienced assertive assimilation before. In middle school, I attended a private Christian school in Monclova, which was a complete change from the north side of Toledo. I remember adjusting the way I spoke to fit in more easily. #UTcommtheory

I believe that many jobs, particularly high-stress environments like hospitals and factories, could use a cultural shift to view time off not as a luxury but as essential for employee well-being and productivity. #UTcommtheory

I respond best to participatory decision-making. In any organization, it's important to promote a sense of unity or family. One of the easiest ways to help everyone feel like they are part of that family is to include everyone in discussions when significant changes are on the horizon. #UTcommtheory

I support the claim of media multiplexity theory. I am part of a group messaging chat with my brothers and friends, where we share funny social media videos with each other instead of posting them online to our social media profiles. #UTcommtheory

I don’t post frequently on social media, but I do share pictures from past trips or a few updates. I avoid posting my location or sharing photos from trips I'm currently on. In the past, I've seen people publicise their entire breakup online, which reveals too much private information.#UTcommtheory

Axiom #7 I can remember a time when I met a coworker whom I initially thought we wouldn't get along with because he seemed somewhat arrogant. However, after a few days, I realized he wasn't a bad person at all, and we ended up getting along great. #UTcommtheory

I’ll use Jim and Pam from The Office. They both have a desire for connection, but at the same time, they have a desire for independence. This leaves the central dialectical tension in their relationship to be integration versus separation. #UTcommtheory

I once had a coworker who overshared about his marriage. At the time, I was shocked, but I noticed the other coworkers already knew and just shrugged it off. #UTcommtheory

I was raised in a protective family type. While we certainly had rules growing up, none of them ever felt unnecessary or too extreme. We were also not allowed to talk back to our parents and were expected to listen to their advice. #UTcommtheory

I chose option #1. My girlfriend texted me, but I didn't respond. Ten minutes later, she called to ask why I had read her message without replying. This situation shows that our relationship has reached a point where a response is expected within ten minutes of reading a message. #UTcommtheory

Saturday, “I” wanted to cancel my plans with my girlfriend for date night because I preferred to stay home and relax instead. However, the “Me” knew that I had made prior commitments and needed to be able to be a man of my word, also needing to prioritize time for our relationship. #UTcommtheory

I think the explanation criteria are one of the most important. Not only do you have to be able to focus on just the crucial data, but also be able to communicate the data in an effective and understandable way. #UTcommtheory

I like cultivation theory as it suggests prolonged media exposure shapes views of social reality. With the rise of artificial intelligence, its impact may grow even more significant. This theory differs from Burgoon's definition, offering a broader understanding of media's influence. #UTcommtheory
