Haiku poems have three lines, typically without rhymes, with 5, 7, and 5 syllables in the three lines. An example from seismology could be

A P wave comes first
A surface wave resonates
The coda follows

Limericks have five lines. The lines typically rhyme in an AABBA pattern, and have a triplet meter that follows a 9-9-5-5-9 pattern of syllables, with some creative exceptions. "There once was a chemist from Hamden, . . . ", etc.
