you can make it harder for people to blame you for stuff if you loudly proclaim to be against it, and be consistent in that stance. the only thing dems are consistent about is acting like reps have a point

i think for that analogy to work it would have to be a known murderer calling a police station telling them "i'm gonna murder these 100 people in 5 days" and the police choose not to investigate at all. regardless of what's "worse," organizational negligence is the main reason we're here

let me rephrase. it's not just someone with the power to stop it, it's someone who's employed to stop it. millions of people count on them as their front line of defense to this bad thing happening, yet they repeatedly choose to allow it to happen. they enable evil while they're paid well to stop it

sure, but in this circumstance someone does something bad and a person with the power to prevent it chooses to allow it. "fail to prevent it" implies that they tried to prevent it. which they did not

it's pretty simple: the team on paper looks a hell of a lot better than it ended up being in practice. not to mention all the close game losses they kept taking early in the year, or how bad marv was to start the year. the roster is much, much better than your typical 3-14 football team

it's funny because he's had a reputation as this guy that never takes any big swings or risks much, and then he finally does it with the sauce trade and it blows up in his face (not really his fault bc it was just sauce getting hurt, but funny nonetheless)

rypien couldnt beat out max brosmer in minnesota for a QB3 job and the colts choosing to bring rivers out of retirement instead of letting him start even one game is pretty damning of his abilities. the only slight chance of saving their season was riley leonard being good, but he got hurt too
