Seeing the Mournival do so much to save Horus, which only leads them, him, and essentially half of mankind down the road of no return. Because they loved him and would do anything to see him live. The emotion depicted in Abaddon especially was surprising and I loved it.

I've read some HH books out of order, like First Heretic and Flight of the Eisenstein (which was my first 40K novel I ever read like a decade+ ago), so I already had an idea of the pace of events before hand, and also know the general lore of the Heresy. But man its legit gut wrenching ....

Horus falls in two books, and it feels rushed but..
Even for Horus and Fulgrim, I can't help the 'but you can be good! (Relative)' part of me, but it's sad knowing the way it goes and its pretty well written. I even almost like Abaddon! Fuck Erebus though.

By the way, one of the really annoying things about people saying stupid shit like “every queer person should buy a gun!” is it pushes everyone back into the realm of unrealistic fantasizing about what they’ll do “when it gets to that point” rather than things they can and should do NOW.
