As someone with a Southern family, I really appreciated that these characters aren’t cartoonish caricatures. They’re deeply human and relatable because of that. It made the whole film much more authentic and meaningful to me.

Elle Fanning is great as expected, but I really want to shout out Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi for his performance as Dek. The movie simply wouldn’t work without him. Hope to see these characters again soon!
