Milkweed took over a garden patch this year, and it helped my sanity a lot for the short time we had a butterfly and bee garden to observe. Now the milkweed blooms are spent, but there’s a clean-up crew. 💚

As much as I don’t want to mess with her… is she sitting on an enormous egg sack? I don’t know what else it would be unless she needs to mummify her prey til the next century. 😳

Immature ganoderma… probably? The waxy-looking base feels like smooth wood, and the tops feel like antler velvet.

Pleasant find down in the yard… cutting this slope of suckers is on (though very far down) our chore list, but it turns out the beavers are waaaay ahead of us!

It was a beautiful day outside, and I was grateful to have a few minutes not to think about the world burning. Update on the witch’s butter: it’s either undergoing desiccation or rehydration.
