In an effort to get better at art & have some kind of creative endeavor, about a week ago I started drawing a fish every day!

Here's a few that I'm pretty proud of, I really do think I'm slowly getting better at it!

Eviota hoesei - a little goby endemic to the Lord Howe island group. Real skittish and tricky to get pics of 🐟

Thalassoma purpureum is one of those fishes I never get tired of seeing, it's like seeing Tom Hardy at Kmart or something and I get excited every time. Unreal animal!!

This is Hippolyte australiensis - there's a few crustacean taxa named for mythical figures. Hippolyte in Greek mythos Ares' daughter and queen of the Amazons! Isn't it nice to live in a world where little shrimp can be spoken about in the same way as a demigod? :)

Only just getting around to posting this now cause I'm still a bit fried socially - super happy to have presented some of my research on subtropical reef fishes at the Australian Society of Fish Biology conference in newy!! Made new friends, caught up with old ones and learned a lot!!

Very proud to have just given my first ever conference presentation at ASFB/IPFC2023!! Have had a couple people ask me about stable isotopes and how we can use them in trophic studies. I love being around fish nerds!!
