Neighborhood "doggo" enjoying the nice weather we're finally getting.

Knocked out a quick project today that's been languishing for months. One of the arms for my turning saw cracked, & I finally made a new one.

I'm holding the (other) original in the photo, while the new one is hanging for the BLO to dry. The quarter-sawn oak came from a chunk of firewood.

Whelp... there's nothing for it but to resaw this black limba body blank by hand. It's too wide for my bandsaw. I've made progress since this photo - about an hour (and one saw sharpening) in, and I'm 2/3 of the way through. If I went to the gym, I'd skip arm day.

Made the resaw cut for the bookmatch, started flattening. Decided to mock up with the bridge, pickups, and jazz bass template. Not settled on the body shape, though.

And so it begins...

I took a saw to the *first* piece of wood for in the bass I'm making. I've been planning and sourcing parts for a while, but here's where the actual project starts!

This highly figured walnut will be bookmatched to make the top over a black limba body.

Do you ever plan your meals around where there's still room in the dishwasher, because some dishes only fit in certain spots?

No? Just me?...

I've had this concert scale ukulele kit for *years* and finally got around to finishing it.

Lots of customizations, including mountain bike themed pyrography, custom heel cap, Grover tuners, bone nut and saddle, piezoelectric pickup, and onboard pre-amp.

It looks good, and sounds good, too!

What I just shoveled can only be described as "3 inches of water in a trenchcoat, pretending to be snow."

I should know better than to spend time in the shop when I'm tired or sick. I had 5 minutes of productive time, then spent 30 minutes fixing a stupid mistake. 🫤

As much as I hate to admit it, I agree with Trump on something. It's time to retire the penny. When the half-penny was retired, it had nearly the same buying power as today's quarter.
