We didn’t go to the game, probably not in my dad’s budget, though I’m sure the cost was nothing like years later. With seven children my WWII vet dad (Army Airborne, glider division) was a lawyer in a midsized Ohio town and he made a nice living but nothing like salaries I’ve seen in my career

I don’t remember there being press. Joe Namath was as cool as he seemed on tv commercials. He happily signed my autograph book—three times. On the last time, he smiled and said, “Hey, haven’t I signed this before?” Don Shula, Webb Eubank, Johnny Unitas, Earl Morrill, even Paul Brown.
