Some real talk here, too, about what it can be like if you don't feel socially/culturally connected with your NBA teammates. The NBA / American basketball is a culture and a vibe. Not everyone enjoys it.

A few minutes later, the players called the Bengals, and Schultz sent the tweet. “BREAKING,” it began in all caps. “WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins exclusively tell me they’ve agreed to contract extensions with the team.”

Google "AI overview" of a search for "Daniel Brühl and Mélanie Laurent", claming that they "co-starred in the 2009 film "Inglourious Basterds," where they played Lieutenant Aldo Raine's squad members, Bruno Hantzmann and Shoshanna Dreyfus, respectively." That's not at all who Brühl played.

I loved @hellafitzgerald.bsky.social's review of Dafoe's lead performance in "The Last Temptation of Christ" and really need to revisit that movie.

Dafoe, I should mention, is very literally a miracle here. I absolutely did not think I could ever come around to a white-boy Jesus, no matter how big a fan I am of the actor playing him, but Dafoe is functionally a special effect. His performance is riveting in an existential way; there would be no movie without it. He’s doing something revelatory that draws a bright line right back to his origins in 1970s nyc downtown experimental theater. Most modern movie-star acting has so much explaining in it, but his Jesus is a mystery even to himself. He’s as confused by all this as I am, waiting for somebody else who has the answers to come along and once and for all tell them to him. He sees it clearly for a few moments, an hour, a collection of them, and then he doesn’t. He’s full of pure, graceful, open-hearted love for humanity in one moment, and overtaken by a rage he doesn’t understand in the next. He never, until perhaps the very last moment, knows whether or not to believe in himself, whether or not he’s the son of god or merely a lost zealot driving himself mad with self-denial and ego. In a way that very very few movie stars manage, the performance and the movie itself are doing one and the same thing. No one has answers, not Jesus and not this movie about him, either. The mysteries only offer more mysteries. The failure is the miracle.
