(2/2) Kodak may be under-counting by only considering first-run commercial theaters, not the 'art house' / repertory market. That would eliminate two of the five 70mm screens I know of in Ohio.

Minor nit to pick: DLP, not LCD. LCDs are terrible with multi-kilowatt light sources (Xenon arc lamps, more recently, lasers) - ask any theater that bought a Sony projector. The rest of the industry uses a 3-chip DLP assembly from Texas Instruments with staggeringly expensive optics.

That "only 30 theaters" statistic doesn't pass the smell test, on the grounds that I know of 3 in Cleveland alone that can run 70mm film (I'll be running a 70mm print of "Brainstorm" next Saturday in one of them (films.case.edu)). Also, 100 theaters were equipped to run The Hateful Eight on 70mm.

Interesting detail I noticed - the image clearly shows six repetitions of the original were pasted together, so it must have been based on Count Rugen's six-fingered hand. 20% more butterfingery goodness FTW!

Or worse yet, "human capital" (a bit of terminology which I have despised ever since my employer started using an ERP HCM systems 20 years 10 months and 21 days ago...not that anybody is counting)

“With AI, you can be twice as productive with half the work!

Unrelated, we need you all to come in twice as much.”

Alarm bells are ringing, and not because things are going great.

I closed my last browser tab for Xitter a month or so ago, and haven't been back since. I still followed a few Famous People-type accounts and some very rarely-posting friends, but...it's over. Like Usenet, but with less fond memories, it goes to the bit-bucket of history....

You'll be shocked (shocked, I tell you!) to hear that I've been prompted for age verification on BlueSky today...but not on any actual porn sites (and I have checked n >= 1).

Nice to have such a fast, light-weight text editor these days, isn't it?

"[T]he Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion..."

From the Treaty of Tripoli, signed by President (and Founding Father) John Adams and passed *unanimously* by the Senate in 1797.

I wish that "In Soviet Russia..." was still a joke, not the actual management techniques of the US federal government.

I am no longer accepting half-baked arguments. AI boosters are *losing* - they have weak arguments, weak beliefs, and weaker spirits, eagerly marketing ideas for the powerful.

Critics work harder, prove themselves in detail, and fight for the good of the user.
