I drew this a few years ago but only yesterday added captions. It could have been a symbolic list of school shootings, like Sandy Hook. It could’ve been Black lives lost, like George Floyd and Breonna Tayor. It may still be. Instead, I made it about the erosion of our democracy by a madman.

At a pet shop I struck up a conversation with this little 3 yr old drop of licorice named Pearl. We weren’t looking for a rescue cat but after we left we kept thinking about her and came back to adopt her. Beyond all reason I’m now a cat dad. I can’t believe this sweetie almost wasn’t in our house.
