Justify it in whatever way you want. Saints also should have moved on from several players who they can't because of how they've restructured their contracts. Now it costs more to cut them than to keep them.

What people don't see is the plethora of good starters they haven't been able to re-sign over the last few years and the old, ineffective players they have to keep because of restructures. Moves like Reid keep them a 6-8 win team who's going nowhere.
