Seeing my short story, The Beekeeper’s Due, on the big screen at the Eisner ceremony was truly the thrill of a lifetime. Something I’ll never forget. Huge congratulations to the DC Comics team for Finding Batman by Kevin Conroy, which took home the Eisner. Rightly so. Such a brave and moving story.
This letter in the back of Swamp Thing 23 has to be from writer/filmmaker/Ann Arbor native David S. Goyer, right?

It’s that time of year in Philadelphia where “go birds” replaces hello and goodbye. It’s our Aloha.

I've been moving my comic library and trying to weed things out. I couldn't part with these single issues, but having it all together in an omnibus is still pretty tempting. Ambitious superhero storytelling at the grandest scale.
The road to Death Metal all started in the pages of JUSTICE LEAGUE from myself, @jamesthefourth.bsky.social, @jorgejimenezart.bsky.social, and more!

Pre-order our second and final Omnibus before FOC today to get issues #19-39 PLUS our Year of the Villain and Batman Who Laughs stories!

I just backed Made in Delco from @jimmygaspero.bsky.social. Excited to read through such a wide range of genres from one writer. And how could I not support a fellow Delco Jimmy? www.kickstarter.com/projects/mad...

Finished a comic script today. My first full 22-page story. It seemed so daunting after writing shorts but it clicked into place scene by scene. And a last minute breakthrough made it work as a stand-alone, which I love.

Always disappointed when I click a link to an interview and it’s a podcast. STOP WITH THE PODCASTS. I want to drink my coffee and read a conversation.

Finally! One of my favorite museums and one of the things I miss about living in New Haven.
Yale Center for British Art reopens after two years

The museum will mark the occasion with solo exhibitions of J.M.W. Turner and Tracey Emin in its building, designed by the Modernist architect Louis Kahn

This was such a satisfying project, and one in which I realized for the first time how much my whole life had been spent in a manscape, in places where almost everything was named after men.
#WomensHistoryMonth: The City of Women Map is a fascinating visualization of women’s history and urban transportation. Created by Molly Roy, Rebecca Solnit, and Joshua Jelly-Schapiro, the map renames subway stops after notable women with links to that area, offering an entirely new way to view #NYC.

So impressed by the marketing for this comic. I love seeing more levers being pulled in the Tiny Onion machine. They've built something new and special, and I can't wait to see what else it can do.

Great interview about process. These books are a favorite in our house and this one looks excellent! Can't wait to add it to the shelf of BSC comics. We read the originals too and every comic highlights the genius of Ann M. Martin.

Every time I get new pages from @xavierdesveaux.bsky.social for Relics of Northmore, I have 2 thoughts:

1. I need to delete every piece of dialogue I’ve written so I’m not covering this art.

2. If I can’t do that, i need to be a better writer to live up to this.

Stumbled on a forgotten Louis Kahn building.

Some photos from a hike last summer to the Wharton Esherick Museum. Hiked there from Valley Forge on part of the Horse Shoe Trail. #architecture

This auto-transcription of my interview with an architect has recorded every mention of "limestone" as "slimestone" and it makes me laugh every time.

Finally reading Pillars of the Earth. What a story but my god is it brutal. Hard to read sometimes. I think I need to put it down for a while and just read about Gothic cathedrals in Pevsner's Outline of European Architecture.

I'm watching this happen in old neighborhoods outside Philly and it's infuriating. Developers & "flippers" are demolishing smaller character-rich homes and clear-cutting 100-year-old oaks to maximize the allowed buildable area for identical garage-forward monstrosities.

Setting up the Scholastic book fair at my kid’s school. Twice as many graphic novels this year. This table is just a small portion.

Trying to focus on my first full-length comic series, but I keep getting ideas for short stories, including a couple devastating one-pagers.

Watched Romulus last night. It’s good! Especially the first half. I’m not a die-hard Alien fan but I liked how it attempted to stitch together the movies even if it was a bit clunky and Force Awakens-y at times. Also really liked the more direct focus on the Space Capitalism stuff. BUT…
Over the last 2 weeks, I've watched all the Alien movies (except Romulus) for the first time. I enjoyed them immensely and feel incredibly inspired — both by what's in the movies and by what isn't. They're so disconnected, but the worlds are so rich. My current ranking with some thoughts:

This book is so good. It was the first thing I read by @therightram.bsky.social and I keep coming back to it. It has a real perspective, a propulsive story, and stunning art by @artofsumit.bsky.social that showcases the full potential of a 9-panel grid.
