In these dark times, we've a duty to stand up, to do what is right. Whether it personally impacts us or not. We're all human beings.

A country should be a community, yet we seem hell bent upon attacking, rather than, supporting one another.

Be a Marsha.
Be a Sylvia.

Be You, and support.

...comments to the press about the repeal of hate speech laws being a negotiating point in a UK/US Trade deal is. frankly, frightening.

THIS IS HOW RIGHTS ARE LOST.

I urge anyone reading this to write to their MP.

To stand for what is right.

And to ensure we protect our Trans siblings.

Today, we are seeing an unprecedented attack on our community - both at home and abroad.

We are seeing an all out war on the rights of trans people across the globe - including a huge loss of life.

Today's ruling, from the UK Supreme Court, coupled with Vice President JD Vance's...

The rights we now have, and that many in our community take for granted stand, on the struggle and activism of, (amongst many) two trans women of colour who stood up for us at a time when we needed it most. They made our fight their fight.

However many in our community have forgotten this.

Sylvia led a troubled life following the death of Marsha.

She ended up living in her own makeshift settlement by the Hudson River and struggled with alcohol.

However in the last 5 years of her life she returned to political activism.

Marsha died in July of 1992 when her body was fished out of the Hudson River.

Whilst the police wrote it off as a suicide, those who knew Marsha were convinced she could never do this and were sure that foul play was involved.

They took in trans kids off the street, gave them a roof over their heads and supported them at a time when no one else would, despite the financial burden and the backlash from the public and their own community.

At a time when many felt they didn't, and couldn't, have a voice and felt threatened (sound relatable to today? You'd be right)...

When our community turned on them despite their support for us; Marsha and Sylvia went on to found STAR House - Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries.

Two trans women of colour - who were amongst the first to campaign for the rights of gay people.

Martha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera were at the forefront campaigning for gay rights, openly and loudly, at a time when many gay people felt they couldn't speak out.

So today let me tell you about a little canvas of two heroines, that hangs by my door and reminds me that every day is a good day to fight.

Today, and every day, is a fighting day.
Where we fight for what is morally right.
To protect rights, and to stand for what is morally right.

Whom I love dearly, who I can hold his hand in public (yes that is still a thing to declare).

I am HIV+ and openly vocal about it to educate others and challenge governments to support, treat, and educate so we can eradicate the virus.

Vitally importantly, is that I support my trans siblings. 2/12

So it's been a day. It's been a *long* day.

But the rights that I have today, stand on the shoulders of those who came before.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to legally have sex with those of the same sex I am attracted to.

I'm fortunate enough to love and have my husband @positivelad.me 1/12

What a difference 1 year to the day makes.

I started a journey a year ago to work on a part of myself I've always neglected and hated, me.

Not there yet, but 30kgs down, healthier habits in my life, a new found enjoyment of the gym - something I've always struggled with, and with progress looking
