Bit of trivia. The song Flame Trees by Cold Chisel was about the NSW city of Grafton where they have lots of jacarandas, and in fact an annual festival.

One of my favourite stories about gender segregation involves the actor, Sigrid Thornton's mother, and they've now named the bar after her. regattahotel.com.au/eat-drink/me...

I'm curious about the source for the anecodte about shouting the bar to allow the two actors/dancers to drink there. I lived in outback NSW (Bourke) during the late 1980s, and there were no hard and fast segregation rules, but there were some pubs which had "informal" segregation.

Born in late 65. Tonsils and appendix, too! I still have my tonsils, but had my appendix removed in an emergency operation, aged 26.

On Facebook, I get lots of age-appropriate advertising, like Pensioners Insurance etc. I'm not that old yet, I scream at the computer.

Interesting review. I saw this a few months ago and enjoyed it very much. Yes, there's the political stuff, but I also loved the gloriousness of the art. jamesobrien.id.au/2023/02/doco/

I once interviewed Dame Elisabeth, and agree with your assessment. Quite charming.

Last night's episode was excellent. Though my full time career in the media didn't start until 1988, lots of the character types were still around well into the 90s and early 00s.

Everything now is computerised, of course, but the record library at commercial radio station 2LM (Lismore, NSW) still exists. jamesobrien.id.au/2023/01/lism...
