In the U.S. and Canada (this strip is Canadian), people often say A TON to mean any heavy weight. Could you help me with this beam of wood? It weighs a ton.

This cat is lying. It claimed that it had not been fed for weeks. But the coffee house staff said it belonged to the neighbor.

No. I was there last week. I took a picture of this cat at the National Museum of Indonesia. It had just killed a mouse or a vole or something, and was washing off its paw.

Jakarta traffic. I find it interesting that if you have a friendly interaction with a cashier here, they will say, "Hati-hati di jalan," Be careful on the street, to send you on your way.

There are fancy Chinese restaurants here, like everywhere else. But there are also these simple places, always with this odd wording "Seafood dan chinesefood" ("dan" is "and"). I wonder what the history of these is. They must have been part of the Chinese diaspora here, but why specifically seafood?

The blue ice is back at the Straits. Photo by burgerplex on Instagram, looking very much like a Winslow Homer.

I bought this Hawaiian in the early/middle 1990s at what was then Value Village in Ypsilanti, Michigan. If you think the colors are bright now, you should have seen it then. Even Indonesians compliment me on it. The collar was falling apart, so I took it to a tailor who stitched it back together.
