Help my friend Becky fight her recent cancer diagnosis. Like many, I played games Becky helped create on the Apple II/IIgs, Macintosh, and other personal computing platforms.

Donald J. Trump looked in a mirror today and said, "In light of your deceitful and potentially criminal conduct in a financial matter, they cannot and I do not have such confidence in your integrity."

kinda wonky, but extremely relevant to what's been going on in tech the past couple of years: a change to the tax code in 2017 (which was engineered to fall outside the window of CBO scoring) fundamentally shifted how large companies calculate R&D, which has in turn led to a *lot* of layoffs. If […]

Happy 36th Birthday Apple WWDC!

On this day in 1989, I’d been at Apple for about 3-1/2 months working in Apple II Developer Technical Support. I worked at all of the WWDCs through 2019.

To those who hate it when someone posts a news article as an Apple News link, stop posting Flipboard links.

Instead, please take the extra few seconds to get the link to the source article and post it.

Flipboard doesn’t need the clicks; Apple News doesn’t need the clicks.

"And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. That’s what sin is.”

“It’s a lot more complicated than that—”

“No. It ain’t. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means they’re […]

I noticed the retro Mac community was working on #globaltalk and although I'm not working on anything, I thought I'd contribute this suggestion: If you're using AppleShare on Mac OS 7.6 or later, you might want to use the AppleShare client extension that shipped with Mac OS 9.2.2. That's […]

PSA: if you get a phishing email and you don't know the right place to send it for the organization the phisher is pretending to be, just forward it as an attachment to reportphishing@apwg.org (the Anti-Phishing Working Group). It will make its way into the block lists for most browsers.
