I love reading this sort of feedback from Montreal tourists. We are getting a growing opposition by "always in my car" haters, denying the benefits of a transport system which supports multiple ways to get across point a to point b. Living in MTL since 2006, it has improved so much since then.
We just spent a week in Montréal and loved every minute. Most of our time was spent walking the carfree areas and biking the amazing, safe, bike routes. We never got into a car. MTL is North America’s most interesting city now. Stealing the crown from CDMX.

Old game on old gaming standards, and with a few broken mechanics, but I still enjoy it so much on the Unity engine. Rediscovering that game with all new mods and new (less outdated) graphics was real fun for me. A few allows you to tweak the gameplay as well and make it a better experience.

So much ads noise in Google search results. Greed is in the way. It is faster for me to type aws.com and type in `guardduty` into AWS own search box.

AI has top placement for some searches, but there must be teams in Google finding ways to plug in whatever in the actual AI response.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.

In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
Getting off US tech: a guide
I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

@mark-carney.bsky.social This is your leverage now. Deal with Trump with Trumpism: revert your decision on the digital services tax pause. This won't affect us negatively, but this will affect him (US media will cover+rich guys will call him). Make this your game.

It's something that many workers in federal government would like to see, but it needs leadership from the very top.
Canada needs to reduce its dependence on US tech companies — and cloud infrastructure is a perfect place to start.

For @policyalternatives.ca, I explain the threat posed by our dependence on US-owned data centres and why we need a public cloud that isn’t shaped by the need for shareholder profits.
Canada should build public cloud infrastructure rather than relying on U.S. tech giants - CCPA
During the 2025 election campaign, prime minister Mark Carney made a striking admission about Canada’s dependence on U.S. tech companies. The Canadian government was in the process of choosing a partn...

Look. Imagine you like brats and beer.

You brew beer.

Your neighbor likes beer but doesn't brew.

Your other neighbor raises pigs and makes brats, but doesn't drink.

So you sell beer to the first guy, and use the money to buy brats from the second guy.

Now you've got beer AND brats. Total win.

I’m devastated, but I’m also angry. I’m angry because this is an attack on press freedom.

If opportunities can be stripped from journalists simply because enough people repeat the same bad-faith narrative, how can anyone withstand the career impact of doing work that matters?

This is self sabotage. 18F was about to make the US government more efficient. The current Elon administration keeps shooting itself in the foot and won't have any leg to stand on.
I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

98% of Costco shareholders defending DEI is a nice surprise (despite shitty BlackRock owning 7.5%).

Especially given recent trend of shitty American companies trend to give their middle finger to DEI such as Amazon, Boeing, Ford, Harley-Davidson, McDonald, Meta, Walmart.
"our commitment to an enterprise rooted in respect and inclusion is appropriate and necessary."

"creativity and innovation in the merchandise and services that we offer,"

- Costco Board.

98% of Costco shareholders agreed with the board.👍🏿

Segregationists denied.
