Indeed, my dad's foster family was proof of that. His foster parents were more my grandparents than any of the biological ones from either side. ( and he only lived with them for a few years before he turned 18 )

I love EGS, but I have to admit this was the first comic I actually laughed at in quite a while. I like that everyone is so nice most of the time, but seeing them absorb a cynical realist into the collective niceness is quite amusing.

Love AOC and the Dems would be well served by having her as a leader. There are too few top Dems wanting to stand up and fight, and the sooner we rally behind the fighters the better.

Well, the new DNC head was just seated, so it can take a little time to get something rolling. I'm not so sure the effort needs to be centralized, but the Dems do need a better system for spreading information. The sooner they get to work on it, the better.

That said, there are too many Dems that are playing like this is all normal or that it isn't the existential threat that it is. We should be using all our tools to slow, and stop what is happening, and to push for the public to rise up.
February 24, 2025 at 5:32 AM
I agree they should be doing more to protest, but they should stay working in congress to leverage the power they do have. Some things can be accomplished by withholding their votes, but they can also help by holding up and slowing down everything the GOP tries to do.
February 24, 2025 at 5:32 AM
Basically, let the GOP get the proper blame for things blowing up then come in and get some good stuff. However, I'd really love to see a better messaging game from the Dems to make sure the blame for the disaster lands on the GOP and the credit for fixing things goes to the Dems. That is hard.
February 24, 2025 at 4:09 AM
Don't get me wrong, I lean strongly towards the 'do nothing' option.

Ideally, let the shutdown happen, then play hardball on the deal to get things back up and running again. I do worry about the concessions that the worst GOP holdouts will demand for their votes. Better to head off that deal.
February 24, 2025 at 4:09 AM
They need to be louder, and find ways to magnify their voice. This is the time to be figuring it out so that we'll have the messaging machine we need for the midterms and 2028.
February 24, 2025 at 3:52 AM
It's not the Dems. The GOP has the votes to pass a budget, it's on them to get it done. If they need Dem votes, it's because they couldn't work within their own party to get it done.

Though yeah, the Dems shouldn't help without some serious concessions from the GOP.
February 24, 2025 at 3:50 AM
Yes, I fully agree. The Dems job now is to lay all blame for everything on the GOP and not to be shy about it. It is unfortunately something they are not very good at, but they really should take this as an opportunity to practice a vital skill they need for the next 4 years.
February 24, 2025 at 3:48 AM
That's the hard question to answer. I don't think so, it would be a pretty big black eye for the party with the Trifecta to not be able to keep the government open. If Trump was actually decent at strategy, I might say otherwise, but I don't think he's gaming this out.
February 24, 2025 at 3:46 AM
Yes, but they've got to hold onto their votes till they get some really big, really good stuff, not just a few rough edges sanded down. Otherwise, it's better to let the GOP dangle than just take a few crumbs for enabling them.
February 24, 2025 at 3:32 AM
Exactly this, if the GOP wants Dem votes, they need to be giving up real concessions, not stuff they can pull back after the fact. Just firing Musk isn't enough, he needs to be indicted as well, but they're going to have to put even more on the table before the Dems hand over any votes.

It also bothers me the way so many people make following sports their entire personality. I mean, it's a game, that you're not even playing or personally know anyone on the field. Even if it's the 'local' team almost none of the players are actually local. How can anyone care so much?
February 4, 2025 at 5:45 AM
I'm with you! Like casual folks hanging and play sports is great, but the more organized and especially money making it is, the more it just becomes some toxic celebrity worship thing. I just can't get into that, as I tune out pretty much all celebrity junk I can.
February 4, 2025 at 5:45 AM
This is the correct answer.

The MSM is owned by the same people drooling over the tax cuts Trump promises. Never forget that, they aren't in the business of informing the public, and haven't been for a very, very long time. The MSM is the engine for stability, so that the rich owners can keep making bank.
December 26, 2024 at 4:12 AM
I'd wager that many ( though not all sadly ) of the folks needing help with their health care voted for Harris. It's the ones who are slightly better off that keep voting for the MAGA foolishness and blaming the 'poor' for their troubles. Think survivors bias.
December 26, 2024 at 1:58 AM
They know it's all BS, but they also know low-info voters will lap it up and clap like happy seals, so they play to the rubes.

The sad thing is, despite having this strategy not change in modern history, the liberal side keeps losing.
December 24, 2024 at 1:26 AM
I don't think most of them care about LGBTQ folks, they just need a moral panic they can leverage to get votes, a tried and true American electioneering tradition, right up there is 'they'll take our guns', 'the illegals will take our jobs', and 'the price of gas is too high'.
December 24, 2024 at 1:26 AM
Far too many people don't vote because they don't believe the Democrats will do the things their platform says, and too many Dems have proven them right over the years. Give the voters Dems that fight for our platform and they will show up to vote.
December 18, 2024 at 7:58 AM
The Democrats need leadership worthy of the platform, and are willing to stand up, fight for and loudly advocate for it.

AOC is on that list, most of those voting against her are not. That's the problem we need to fix.
December 18, 2024 at 7:58 AM
The dam will break eventually, but only if we keep pushing. We need to take this energy to the primaries. AOC is in congress because she took on the old guard Dem in her seat. If we work to unseat everyone voting against her, we'll open up the path for us to get the representation we need.
December 17, 2024 at 7:46 AM
Good art makes us think about the world and our place in it. That's a good thing. I do get not wanting to jump into the dumpster fire of current politics, but at the same time, I think a lot of people would benefit from the philosophies that you've woven into this whole comic. Keep being great!
