North Carolina is a purple state, generally speaking. Trump won by a razor-thin margin here. Out of 5.6 million votes, just 150k difference. And as angry as I am that those electoral votes ended up going to Trump, sh*tting on the rest of us is a pretty MAGA-like move.

If you're expecting authoritarianism in the U.S. to look like pre-Cold War fascism in Mussolini's Italy or Franco's Spain, not to speak of, in the words of Thom Hartmann, the "death cult" of Hitler's Nazi Germany, you may overlook the kind of fascism that has made its first inroads in the U.S. now.
