5/5: Reactive, issue-specific legislation is not the answer. We need a pragmatic, agile approach that prioritises deterrence, responsibility, & protection for vulnerable young people. A good start would be to engage with voices beyond those who simply reinforce existing views. #ChildSafety #AI

4/5: Let's be clear: viewing this material doesn't create paedophilic tendencies. It's the other way around. Paedophilic tendencies drive individuals to seek out this content. This crucial distinction must inform our policies.

3/5: We need smarter, more effective solutions that prioritise:
•Deterrence – Stronger penalties
•Tech Accountability - If they fail to comply, restrict the advertising revenue that funds them.
•Policing – Establishing a vetted, trained, and supervised force of volunteer digital detectives.

2/5: The core issue isn't just the technology, it's the people misusing it. Every instance of this horrific content, whether AI-generated or real, is driven by a real person. Our legal framework lacks meaningful deterrence. Only abt 20% of those convicted of downloading go to prison.

1/5: The online safety debate, fuelled by AI-generated child exploitation material, is crucial. But current legislative efforts, like the #OnlineSafetyAct, are insufficient and 18 years late, in fact. We need a fundamental and agile shift in approach. #ChildSafety #OnlineSafety
