3/ In fact, SSA currently expects that it will run out of funds in about eight years. At that time, benefits will be totally dependent on current tax revenues. Assuming no change to revenues collected by taxes, benefits for everyone will have to be cut by about 20%.

2/ What the SSA neglects to mention is that the Big Bill cuts taxes for the rich, driving the deficit into the trillions of dollars, which means that social security benefits in the future are in danger.

1/ What is it celebrating? The SSA points to a reduction or elimination of taxes on social security income for those folks who are in the upper 50%, income-wise, of people who receive the benefits. (It does nothing for those in the lower 50%, who are totally dependent on those benefits.)

This comes as no surprise. In spite of his public statements of support for the military, Trump has always denigrated service members in private — especially those who have been killed and injured, calling them ‘suckers’ and ‘losers’, according to retired four-star Marine General John Kelly.
