Agatha Christie fell in love with Greenway in Devon, professing it the most beautiful place on Earth. I think she had a point. The @nationaltrust.org.uk have done a masterly job restoring the house & gardens, curating a collection that is both elegant and tells the story of Christie’s life & works

I’ve joined hundreds of others today in signing a letter to the Prime Minister encouraging the Government to hold firm on plans to strengthen legal protections for National Parks and National Landscapes.

My quest for 1 of the world’s scarcest birds, barnacle geese, at home in the Arctic & Scotland’s pastures & estuaries. Plus an encounter with a true polar traveller, the Sabine’s gull & how the vast Arctic walrus survive on a diet of clams. My @thetimes.com Nature Notebook online & yesterday’s paper

82.3 degrees north, well into the Arctic Ocean amongst ice floes. We spotted this bear which came closer to the ship, they are curious and smelled food, lunch was being cooked. A remarkable encounter in one of the world’s true wildernesses. An apex predator in a harsh environment is a true wonder.
