I think it’s a naive thought that human nature is pure enough to say “yeah, I’m doing pretty well, I’m happy for a good portion of my income over an certain amount to go to better society” Sadly that’s just seen by far too many now as stupid.

That’s fine in the short term but at some point you either live your best life or compromise purely because you don’t believe in the level of tax

Indeed, so are we suggesting these people just stop spending that higher level of disposable income and sit on their hands doing nothing compared to the period prior to the tax hike?

How do those who restrict their income maintain their lifestyle? If it’s by using savings doesn’t that mean the same money circulating in the economy and generating other taxes?
