Opening LineA tense, clever alternate-history thriller that twists the past just enough to make you wonder how close we came to a different world. 🌍📘BOOKLast Bridge to Memphis drops you into a timeline that didn’t happen — but easily could have. Jim Condelles blends history, danger, and sharp pacing as a single fracture in reality sends characters into a race against shifting events. Every chapter carries momentum, pulling you deeper into a world where one choice can change everything. 🔎⏳AUTHORJim Condelles writes with crisp confidence. He knows his history, knows how to build tension, and keeps the story grounded in emotion rather than gimmicks. His characters feel real, flawed, and easy to root for. ✍️🔥My OpinionHere’s the thing: this isn’t just a “what if” thriller — it hits with real emotional weight. The suspense works, but it’s the human side of every decision that keeps you hooked. I found myself thinking about the ripple effect of one moment long after I stopped reading. 💭⚡Book’s StoryA strange break between timelines leads to Memphis — the place where everything shifts. The characters have to cross that divide, face the truth waiting on the other side, and survive the consequences of history rewritten. 🚧🌆What Makes It Special1. A believable twist on alternate history.2. Fast plot, strong tension.3. Characters who feel alive.4. Surprises that land.Final VerdictIf you love thrillers with brains, heart, and real stakes, Last Bridge to Memphis delivers a gripping, memorable ride. 🛤️📖✨

I don’t care who’s in the White House or who’s in the executive producer’s chair. Censorship is wrong. Self-censorship in service of politics, the worst. And shame on those who practice it. Full stop. In that spirit, sharing this link.

“Cowardly, weak, and oblivious.” That sums up American journalism.
“I think right now the greatest thing going in the favour of fascism is that our journalistic institutions are so cowardly, weak and/or oblivious to what’s happening…I don’t know what they think happens to them once fascism is the law of the land. Maybe they haven’t read enough books.”
“A large part of the venture capital model is serving as a recruitment mechanism into tech fascism.”

Editing has been an intrinsic element of journalism for hundreds of years. Not a partisan issue. Maybe you don’t like it, but that’s why it’s called reporting and not transcription. (Paging Ed Murrow. Paging Walter Cronkite. Paging Bob Schieffer.)
CBS' 'Face the Nation' will no longer edit taped interviews after Kristi Noem backlash
The policy change comes after Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem complained that her remarks on Aug. 31 program were shortened before airing.

So many movie reviews these days:

“It’s going to be a blockbuster on Netflix and viewers will love it, but here’s why it actually sucks.”

The vicious gang-up on “The Electric State” is just the latest example of this.

Like many, I've had a few different careers. Radio DJ, television reporter, news anchor, PR specialist, communications manager. But now I get to add "author" to that list. That's why I'm all shook up today!

I'm here to tell you, you can do anything, if you stick with it and don't give up.

The problem with collective action by the press is that reporters and/or their management are self-important/self-interested and have never been known to stand up for one another. That would require a conscience and a backbone.
Great column from @dicktofel.bsky.social, a call to arms for all journalists to do what they can in this moment of crisis for press freedom. "Do what you can, do it now, and keep at it." dicktofel.substack.com/p/thinking-a...
