People don’t think of govt as all the things it provides or does. They view govt as all the stuff it does they don’t like and all the stuff it provides as this thing that just exists independently

I love the the govt budget is a like a family budget line too. These types of ways of thinking are usually bc it sounds like a smarter answer since people don’t know how govt operates

Covid broke people and a lot of people are less happy today. I think it was part of Bidens appeal too in 2020. My personal theory is a solid part of what drives voters is a desire to feel like they can capture a time when things felt better but that’s just people aging.

Another factor is part of trumps messaging (obviously he says millions of things) both explicitly and implicitly is that you’d be back to where you were pre Covid. I think a part of the appeal was wishing to turn back the clock in a personal sense (as well as for many, legal sense)

I find that a lot of the appeal for manosphere or Rogan is that it’s more than just politics or culture wars so you need something that shifts people’s perspective without being too forward. In addition to someone like Hasan Piker

I think in these cases besides directly talking to someone to be there for them, if we’re talking YouTube or Twitch recs. It should be someone who leans left but is good in the niche that the person is into. So gaming, fitness, etc. Fightincowboy, MinnMax, Jeff Nippard, Kinda Funny

Obviously it would take Dems having a spine but even wanting to maintain the status quo needs a lot of work under this administration. I know it’s hopeful thing but at this point I’d rather be hopeful

That’s a valid fear but I do think it’s hard to tell what happens in 4 to 8 years since I don’t believe people would expect things to be where they are in 2025 looking back at 2012 post Obama win

What people who are defending Dems don’t get is that Dems will be seen as the group who wants to ban TikTok instead of letting the GOP take an ultimately unpopular position. The optics of this is the problem. Dems cave to Republicans and never benefit from it

The internet has become a more hostile place where everyone needs to argue rather than share joy. It’s either arguing or someone trying to farm engagement in some way rather than any sort of genuine thought or emotion at the forefront of most posts

It’s just plain laziness and ppl use systemic issues to claim randos aren’t being lazy. The fact that these ppl don’t know how to shop or freeze food shows they live a sheltered life. Don’t blame being poor or food deserts when ppl who grew up poor didn’t do this! We learned how to shop lol
