"You don't want to settle for moral outrage when you should hold out for moral compass....Moral outrage points things out, but moral compass points the way. You want to be able to point the way. You want to say, over here, let's imagine this." - Greg Boyle

2025's greatest challenge won't be technological - it will be societal.

"Whereas humans are limited in the kinds of explanations we can rationally conjecture, machine learning systems can learn both that the earth is flat and that the earth is round. They trade merely in probabilities that change over time. Noam Chomsky in the NYT

Unless there are systems to guide people on how to think, we are simply left to the mercy of our impulses, wandering in the wilderness with a shotgun, shooting at whatever noises come from the bushes.

Zuckerberg has acquiesced to a world rife with shotguns and a shit ton of buckshot.

"Sin is the failure to bother to care." Sage words from @malcolmgladwell.bsky.social (based on Fr James Keenan) for Zuck's spineless capitulation to everything that the right wanted from social media to allow MAGA to further distort the truths they refuse to face and spread hate and vitriol.

I'm curious about how America will be "great" after 4 years of Trump. Since facts and objective metrics don't seem to be important now, will they somehow be important in 4 years to prove how "great" things are?

What I Would Tell Trump 5/5. I sugg the incoming POTUS use BuzzSumo, another AI app. It tracks competitors' social media metrics. A key tool to keep in one's back pocket when negotiating trade tariffs.

What i Would Tell Trump 4/5. To prepare for meetings with Xi, Kim and Putin, I sugg Unkover AI to collect and analyze info about US adversaries, track their activities and monitor their market changes such as Chinese electric car sales and the amount of petroleum North Korean buys from Russia.

What I Would TellTrump 3/5. Communicating policy decisions thru tweets on X must have taken a lot of his time during term #1. I sugg Postwise. It generates tweets + analyzes past tweets to ensure consistency with his style and even suggests topics. But, at $29/mo, he may want to run it by the DOGE.

Five Things I'd Tell Donald Trump 2/5. Intelligence reports are long, detailed and tedious to read. I sugg the POTUS download LLaMA 2 to summarize intel reports for the juicy bits, leaving the boring stuff to Tulsi Gabbard. LLaMA 2 works locally, which will keep the information relatively secure.

Five things I'd Tell Donald Trump. 1/5. During his 1st term, Trump was pretty attentive to approval ratings. To help track fickle public opinion, I would tell him to look at Brand24 AI to measure customer sentiment in social media posts. Take that info and ask CGPTo1 to sugg strategies to improve.

The continued health of democracy depends on a motto about America that comes from Freakonomics - "Our worst critics prefer to stay." Leaders need conflicting perspectives to make good decisions. Think about that when the leaders create silos of "advisors" whose only role is to say, "Yessir."
