Old not bold former pilot and aerospace engineer
The B-52 was built in the ‘50s and will be in front line service through the 2040s. The TU-95 carries large sophisticated long range missiles

Cruise speed 440 mph. Engines 15,000 hp. A serious machine louder than anything in the sky

On a parallel note, my quiet crescent rarely sees a city plow and the entrance to the larger street often has a huge plow trace. Most of us have a driveway contract. How much would it cost the city to incentivize the contractors to do the trace and street on their way by?

There have been a few diesel light aircraft. The engines are heavier and lower powered but use less fuel. Cost is a consideration

Diesel does not have an octane number. Octane is resistance to spontaneous combustion (compression ignition). Diesel engines rely on compression ignition. The diesel analogue is cetane number

Finally, most have an obviously wrong answer so you only have to pick from 3 choices
September 20, 2025 at 11:48 PM
Another: if you have absolutely no idea, pick (c) unless scoring subtracts wrong count from right. (C) has been shown to be the correct choice by a slight advantage

I always did better on multiple choice than my knowedge warranted. One clue: never change the first answer that comes to you

Yes I did. My comment stands

Could it be, as reported by the Tyee (thetyee.ca/News/2025/07...) that Alberta used American sources to populate the list?

Internal emails show how education ministry staff compiled book titles subject to new content restrictions.

In these Trumpian times I would have thought “The Handmaid’s Tale” is a suitable candidate for the headline book. In the body they mention “”Brave New World” and others as well as listing several affected Canadian authors. What axe are you trying to grind?

The basis is that the USN is implementing autoland systems in its fleets. They have concluded that autoland is now superior to pilots. Certainly a manual approach in windy wet nights is an extreme challenge.

Lefkoe is a world class jerk. Hams it up, overrides the speech of the analysts (good ones) to push his own opinion. Announcers should set the scene, coordinate input from the analysts and otherwise shut up.

The 747s were already complete in his 1st term. The time is to harden them against nuclear electromagnetic pulse, install and qualify defensive anti-missile systems and extensive command and control systems. Complicated by need that all who work on them must be US born & security cleared

Don't think so. USAF-North Korea was certainly bigger. I believe the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 was also bigger with dozens of F104s and Mig-21s shot down. And how about the Yom Kippour war of 1973? The latter would have crippled the IDF if not for US resupply

You miss the point: the plane you show is that of the opposition leader, not the PM who is, as you say, MC, you supercilious twit
March 28, 2025 at 11:04 PM
Jumping the gun aren’t you? He’s not (yet, perhaps never to be) the PM. Your main points are accurate, though. The Carney plane, yet to be seen, will also be festooned. Be interesting to see if it is labelled “Carney” or “Liberal”

Any more questions?

And who is developing a next gen fighter? 1. US entry on hold, so no 2. Tempest BAE UK with Italy, Sweden, Japan 3 Future Combat Air System with Dassault France, Airbus Germany, Indra Spain
March 3, 2025 at 8:02 PM
Who makes the 1. Eurofighter (Typhoon in UK)? Or 2. Rafale? Or 3. Gripen? Oh wait: 1 Multinational European consortium, 2 Dassault (Fr), 3. Saab (Sweden)

DO NOT forget the airpods on your phone. It will not find just 1 pod: needs to be 2
March 2, 2025 at 8:54 PM
A hack I recently found: leave the good Airpod out of the case and charge the case with the non responsive pd. I'm told this will work for a while. It's important to clean the in-case contacts and pod contacts with alcohol

In the 70’s I landed an Argus patrol plane in Gander after monitoring Soviet submarines for hours over the Atlantic. At the FBO signin desk, the gentleman next to me was an Aeroflot Captain signing for his fuel route from Moscow to Havana.
